ENGLISH SUMMARY BELOW

Den seneste uge har Karen K. bloggen haft flere besøg fra Holland (eller Nederlandene, som nok er den mest korrekte betegnelse). Bloggeren er glad for disse besøg og siger velkommen til hollandske gæster med et par hollandske motiver fra Karen K.’s billedlotteri – med vindmølle, tulipaner, træsko og det hele.

I dag, d. 27. april er det Hollands nationaldag eller Koningsdag (Kongedag), hvor landet går amok i nationalfarven orange. Dagen fejres på kong Willem-Alexanders fødselsdag. Hollands nationaldag har flyttet dato og navn flere gange. I årene 1949-2013 hed dagen Koninginnedag (Dronningedag) og blev d. fejret d. 30. april, som var den nuværende konges bedstemor, Dronning Julianas fødselsdag. Nationaldagen i Holland er også “store markedsdag”, hvor alle har ret til at holde marked uden særlig tilladelse, og mange derfor benytter dagen til at holde loppemarkeder.

This past week the Karen K. blog has had its first visits from The Netherlands. The blogger would like to welcome Dutch friends with a few Dutch pictures from Karen Kjærsgaard’s 1960’s Picture Lottery. Complete with wind mill, clogs, tulips, and all.

Today, April 27th is National Day of Koningsdag (King’s Day in the Netherlands at which the country has an orange frenzy. The day is celebrated on King Willem-Alexander’s birthday. The country’s national day had changes its name and date a few times. From 1949 to 2013 the day was celebrated as Koninginnedag (Dronningedag) on April 30th , which was the birthday of the present King’s grandmother, Queen Juliana. The day is also a grand market day in The Netherlands with many flea markets.
